Easter Break
Week Ending 19th April
When initially creating our schedule we didn't want to include Easter Break (April 13th - April 17th) as part of our production. We planned this right! With the lock-down in place and our mad running around to make sure the team are set up and communicating, it was really important for everyone to take a break and focus on their individual needs.
As this week was classed a Reading Week by the tutors we decided to encourage the team to focus on themselves be it time away from the PC, catching up with written work or working on their assets. The leads took some time to reflect on the feedback we received from Creative Assembly.
The main feedback points from Creative Assembly have been paraphrased below;

The main feedback points from Creative Assembly have been paraphrased below;
- Nice to see progression and super nice to see we experimented with time of day and the emotion of the environment in those times.
- Nice to see focus on the statues on busts and not focusing on unnecessary items.
- Still a long way to go in regards to the sculptures but what we have is good so far.
- Brickwork on the arches and wall patterns look really nice.
- Love the vista and external lighting. Really good sense of scale.
- Trees are good don't need to do anymore with that, but fix the fruit textures.
- The gate looks great and really want to get out into the veranda.
- Achieved a lot in the time we have had.
- Plaster wall looks flat, consider a plaster frieze around to add more detail.
- Use decals of dust and dirt to give the feeling of the work space. Dirt ,leaves, twigs, small flowers, leaves, brushed up against the edge of things to keep subtle.
Qs: What about the level of the foliage? Is it lush enough or not enough or just right?
If you are asking this question because you want more, at the moment it looks lush in the archway. Because there is less foliage elsewhere it brings the focus to the arch way. But the courtyard itself is not looking lush especially in comparison.
Spread the love of the assets you currently have. Don't create new assets, just re-use what you have and spread them out more. Include little fingers stretching out. Make it look less tidy and grown irregularly. Make it subtle but a little more and make it look like it has grown around the environment.
Qs: Empty spaces around the side and symmetrical, how do we add more storytelling elements to this?
Refer back to the Artbible, concentrate on the most important things. Having got this far start slowly introducing things from the asset list that were cut. eg: paintings on the wall, scratches and patches in the wall, what sits on the floor? Pick them out carefully one at a time, make each thing great. So far its a nice looking scene and you've done it really well.
That was the main points we discussed in regards to our scene! I'm happy to report we are on the right track and with 4 weeks to go we can achieve a lot in this time. Fingers crossed and good luck team!
